MILLION PAWS WALK 2006 - ALV Volunteers help get the facts to the public |
Help Us at the Million Paws Walk
Animal Liberation Victoria relies on the assistance of volunteers to help get the facts to the public.
Each year, Animal Liberation Victoria (ALV) attends the RSPCA's annual fundraising event to give the public the facts about how their money is being used.
ALV volunteers give their time and energy to:
+ Hand out leaflets and information about the RSPCA and cruelty-free living.
+ Speak directly with members of the public and provide information on the issues so they can make informed decisions
+ Distribute great tasting animal-free food to show the public that no creature great or small needs to be sacrificed for their taste-buds.
One of ALV's main issues with the Million Paws Walk is that hundreds of animals are served up on the RSPCA barbeque as a fundraising tactic! There are so many delicious cruelty-free foods available, and the RSPCA could be leading the way in the promotion of a truly compassionate society. How can the RSPCA be taken seriously when they are barbecuing the animals they are meant to be protecting?!
ALV focuses so much attention upon the RSPCA because it is the only animal welfare organisation in Victoria with the power to prosecute claims of animal cruelty. This is a great responsibility, and sadly it's management's disgraceful track-record speaks for itself. We don't like to spend our time criticising the RSPCA, and we acknowledge the wonderful work of the thousands of unpaid volunteers who lovingly devote their time. But something has to be done to help the animals that need protection and who aren't getting it.
